Identical triplets born eight minutes apart, the Detzis, 21, are juniors on the East Stroudsburg (Pa.) State football team, which opened the season last week with a 17-3 victory over Montclair State. Since they made the team as freshmen, the Division II school has had a 20-0-1 record and is the only NCAA team to be unbeaten in the last two years. Offensive Tackle Jeff, the "baby" although he is 6'2" and 230 pounds, and Inside Linebacker Joe (6'1", 210) both made the All-Pennsylvania Conference East second team in 1976. This year John, the eldest (6'2", 227), who lettered as an outside linebacker as a sophomore, has switched to center. In addition to the triplets, the Warriors field identical twins and two other sets of brothers.

BRIER, WASH.
Williams, 28, known on the hydro circuit as Seattle Sue, set an unofficial women's world speed record in powerboat racing. Driving her unlimited hydroplane, the KYYX, she was clocked in 163.043 mph for a measured mile.

STEPHANIE WILLIM
SILVER SPRING, MD.
Stephanie, 13, the AAU all-around gymnastics champion, competed in the International Junior Invitational meet in Tokyo. She won a gold medal in uneven bars, a silver in floor exercise and was second in all-around with 38.35 points.

KIM MERRITT
RACINE, WISC.
Merritt, 22, set a U.S. women's marathon record of 2:37.19 in the Nike-Oregon Track Club Marathon in Eugene. Her time for the 1976 Olympic Trials course was 2:06 shy of the world's record set in May by Chantal Langlace of France.
