NORTH LIBERTY, IOWA
Todd, 16, won the United Professional Horsemen's Association saddle-seat equitation challenge cup class in Kansas City to become the first male to take the title. He was also the Grand Champion of both the Illinois and Indiana State Fairs.

Gelenitis, an 18-year-old sophomore at Tufts University, won the New England Women's Intercollegiate singlehanded sailing championship. A racer for 11 years, she also led Tufts to the 1978 New England team dinghy championship.

WOODRUFF, S.C.
Varner, 51, Woodruff High athletic director for 25 years, has guided the football team to 20 conference titles and seven state championships. His baseball squads were twice state champs, and his girls' basketball team has won four state titles.

FLYNN, MICH.
Stone, a Kellogg Community College sophomore, was named MVP at the NJCAA women's volleyball championships held in Catonsville, Md. A junior college All-America, she has led the Bruins to an 88-18 record over two years.

MIKE KEITH
SALTVILLE, VA.
Mike, 16, scored all of Rich Valley High's points in a 42-22 victory over Fries in a Class A state playoff game. The 6'2", 210-pound tailback had six touchdowns, including runs of 48 and 40 yards, and kicked six extra points.

GABE RODRIGUEZ
METAIRIE, LA.
Rodriguez, 23, a tanker-man on the Mississippi, led Metairie's team to the national touch football title in Fenton, Mo. An offensive end and corner-back, he caught 29 passes during the six-game tournament and was named defensive MVP.
