Derek, 9, threw a softball 125 feet, leaped 5'11" in the standing broad jump, ran 50 yards in 7.4 and did 63 push-ups in one minute and 67 sit-ups in the same time to lead Pack 353 to victory in the Cub Scout National Physical Fitness Contest.

BRIDGEPORT, W. VA.
Kris finished her four-year career at Notre Dame High with 2,050 points to become the first girl in the state to score more than 2,000 points. Her 31-point average this season was tops in West Virginia, where girls' basketball is a fall sport.

BUFFALO LAKE, MINN.
Schafer, a three-time Minnesota Class A high school 440 champ who is now a freshman at Golden Valley Lutheran Junior College, completed her first cross-country season by winning the women's NJCAA championship in Savoy, Ill.
HUGH DAHILL
GUILFORD, CONN.
Dahill, a senior soccer goalie for Guilford High, had a state-record 18 shutouts in leading the Indians to a 20-0 season and their third straight Class L state title. The three-time All-Stater was voted MVP in the Connecticut tournament.

YERINGTON, NEV.
Lommori, the 41-year-old wrestling coach at Yerington High School, has directed the Lions to 99 straight dual-meet victories and eight consecutive state AA championships. His teams have lost only one meet in nine years.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.
John, a 6'4", 205-pound senior quarterback at Monsignor Farrell High, set New York City passing records for attempts (236), completions (140), yardage (1,940) and TDs (18) to pace the Lions to a 9-0 season and a No. 1 ranking in the city.
