Swenson, a 28-year-old trapper and dog trainer, won the 1,049-mile Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race from Nome to Anchorage in 15 days, nine hours, 37 minutes and 47 seconds to become the first two-time winner in the event's seven-year history.

Ramsay, a 22-year-old junior at Penn State, beat Princeton junior Nancy Gengler 15-14, 15-4, 15-3 in Middletown, Conn. to win the national intercollegiate women's squash racquets championship for the third consecutive year.

Terry, 10, averaged 33.6 points for his team in the Mountain Brook elementary school league. A 4'10" guard who hit seven of nine shots from half court this season, he scored 56 in the Bulls' 62-47 win over the Mets for the championship.
