Sigda, 29, a flower shop proprietor, tied a U.S. amateur record by firing nine straight birdies (the pro mark is eight). His run included four par-5 holes, four par 4s and one par 3 during the Greenfield Open, which he won with a five-under-par 67.

KAREN MONEZ
COLUMBUS, GA.
Monez, 26, a Specialist Five in the U.S. Army, won the World Airguns Championships in Seoul. Her score of 391 out of a possible 400 tied the women's world record and was two points better than the winning total in the men's competition.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.
Louis, a senior tailback at Terry Sanford High who had not played football since junior high, rushed for 231 yards, scored two TDs and passed for another to lead the Bulldogs to a 24-6 defeat of 1978 state AAAA champion Richmond County.

Joey broke the AAU nine-and-under record for the long jump, leaping 15'11½" at a meet in San Antonio and has tied the high-jump mark of 4'11" three times. At the National AAU Boys' Age-Group meet in Omaha, he won both events.

ST. LOUIS PARK, MINN.
Jamie, 6, won the nine-and-under division of the Ninth Annual Minneapolis Aquatennial Milk Carton Boat Race. Aided by his father, who helped paddle and build the 21-by-5-carton vessel, Jamie won the 75-yard race by 30 yards.

JOANIE WESTHAVER
SAN MATEO, CALIF.
Joanie, 12, pitched three no-hitters, including one in which she struck out all 21 batters, for her Bobby Sox softball team. She then threw six straight shutouts that included another no-hitter, for the San Mateo All-Stars.
