Lawler, a freshman center for the Potsdam State College women's ice hockey team, led the nation with 74 goals and 45 assists in pacing the Polar Bears to a 23-3 record. At Fitchburg (Mass.) Academy, she had played on the boys' team.

Glenn, a senior swimmer at Finneytown High and national high school record holder in the 100-meter breaststroke (55.44), won the 200-meter breaststroke in a meet-record 2:18.03 at the U.S. Indoor championships in Austin, Texas. He will attend Alabama next fall on a swimming scholarship. Ronnie, a senior at Loyola High, established a national prep school record in the 100-yard backstroke (51.36) at the Maryland scholastic championships. At the nationals, he finished fifth in the 100-meter backstroke, 1.15 seconds behind the winner.

Julianne, 14, won the all-around women's title at the U.S. Gymnastics Federation championships in Salt Lake City. She tied for first in the vault and sixth on the beam, finished third on the bars and came in ninth in the floor exercise.

Caruthers, 25, an Army sergeant, won a decision over the Marines' Inocencio Ventura at Camp Lejeune, N.C. for his fifth 106-pound interservice boxing title. He has an 85-15 record, and is ranked third in his class by the AAU.

Wren, 31, coach of the women's swimming team at the University of Maine at Orono, won the 14th annual Kenduskeag Stream canoe race. He paddled his kayak down the 16.5-mile course in 2:07:10 to beat 277 other craft.
