Charles, a senior at Muir High, triple-jumped 52'10½" to break by 4¼ the national high school record set in 1970, and has the fourth-best long jump (24'5") among U.S. high schoolers this year. He will attend Arizona State on a track grant.

Von became one of seven 13-year-olds to bowl a perfect game in sanctioned competition when he scored a 300 in the Capri Junior League. His league all-star team also won the National Bowl-O-Mat title, involving 4,000 youth bowlers.

MacColl, 21, scored five goals—running her four-year total to a school-record 216—in Lafayette College's 7-4 win over Towson State in the U.S. Women's Lacrosse Association's Division II national championship game in Catonsville, Md.

Sandy, a sophomore volleyball player, had 109 straight services without a fault for Stonewall Jackson High's regional champion team. Three times she served all 15 points in a game and over one span scored on 25 straight serves.

David, a senior first baseman at William Penn Charter School, hit .524, with five doubles, seven triples and seven home runs, in 20 games this season. His father, Ruben, was a major league shortstop for 11 seasons with the Cardinals, Phillies, Yankees and Angels. Robbie, whose father, Bobby, teamed with Ruben Amaro in Philadelphia, where both earned Gold Gloves in the early 60s, played short for Methacton High and batted .489 in 14 conference games as a senior this year.
