Billy, a 5'9", 175-pound junior halfback, rushed for 2,103 yards on 229 carries and scored 25 touchdowns to lead Newport High to a 9-0-1 record and a class 2AAA regional title. He ran for 143 yards in his worst game and 325 in his best.

Margit and Lisa, twin sisters and seniors at Terry Sanford High, won their fourth consecutive girls' state high school doubles tennis championship, in Chapel Hill, and helped Terry Sanford win its second team title in a row. The sisters' record in doubles competition is 117-1, including a 62-match winning streak. In singles play, Margit has a 71-0 record and Lisa is 70-1, having lost only to her twin. The two didn't play singles in the state championship tournament.

JACKSON HORNER
STATE COLLEGE, PA.
Horner, 57, has coached State College High cross-country teams to 151 consecutive dual-meet wins dating back to 1965, a national record. His 25-year record is 223-18, and his teams have been among the state's top five 13 times in the last 16 years.

ROSALIND NOTT
WEYBRIDGE, ENGLAND
Nott, 25, a magazine editor, averaged 109.46 mph over a pair of .62-mile runs on Lake Windemere in England to set a women's world water speed record in an OZ Racing Catamaran. She broke by 7 mph the mark set in August by Lady Arran.

JIM ROSS
LAKE QUIVIRA, KANS.
Jim, a junior striker for Shawnee Mission Northwest High, scored 28 goals as his team went 17-0-1 and won its second consecutive Kansas City Metropolitan Area soccer title. He had 39 goals in 1979, when Shawnee went 16-2-0.
