Salisbury, a 73-year-old retired schoolteacher who took up running two years ago, holds seven women's world bests for 72-year-olds, from the 100 meters (29.86) to the 10,000 (79 minutes). Cathy, an eighth-grader at Dover Junior High, recently completed her first cross-country season with an undefeated record. She beat a field of 130 in Raleigh. N.C. to win the Track and Field Association/USA girls' 12-13 national title with a time of 14:27 for the 2.5-mile course.
