Stacey, now 11, placed first among the women in the 10-km. Chieftains Road Race near Rome, Ga. with a time of 38:41, a U.S. best for 10-year-old girls. Earlier she set a similar record for the half marathon (1:29:42) in Melbourne, Fla.

PLAINFIELD, N.J.
John, a senior at Plainfield High, set a national high school indoor record of 1:50.7 in the 800 meters, while finishing second to Peter Lemashon of UTEP at New York's Millrose Games. The old mark (1:52.0) was set by Larry Kelly in 1965.

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO.
Tipton, 46, a contractor with a bowling average of 218, rolled three 300 games inside of 29 days, first at Crossroads Bowl, then at Bowl-A-Rama and again at Crossroads near St. Louis. He has now bowled five perfect games in his life.

BISMARCK, N. DAK.
Schaff, 35, the wrestling coach at Bismarck High, has guided his team to 78 consecutive dual-meet victories dating back to 1975. In all, the Demons have won 115 straight matches and eight of nine Class A state titles since 1972.

BALTIMORE
Tori, a 6'4" sophomore center for Towson Catholic High, has averaged 19 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks a game to lead the 29-2 Owlettes to a No. 1 Baltimore-area ranking. She has scored 1,213 points in her two varsity seasons.

MADISON, Wisc.
Sarah, 16, also a national-champion cyclist, placed third in the 1,000 and 3,000 meters and third overall to Natalia Petrusheva of the U.S.S.R. and Karin Enke of East Germany at the Women's World Speed Skating Championships.
