Jill, 12, won the 1981 Junior Ladies Figure Skating Championship for competitors at the sixth and seventh test levels, in San Diego. She also won the New England title in December and the Eastern championship in January.

Volz, a freshman pole vaulter at Indiana, surpassed the Big Ten conference indoor record for the second time in a month, clearing 18'2¼" at the Big State Meet in Bloomington. It was the best American vault of the year.

Rudolph, 57, a sales promoter and an archer for only 4½ months, shot two "Robin Hood split" arrows from 20 yards within 45 minutes in College Park. Ga. In his first formal shoot, 2½ months ago, he scored 298 points of a possible 300.

Kleist, a 25-year-old computer-science major at the University of Maryland, accumulated 262 master points in his first year of tournament competition to win the 1980 Rookie of the Year award of the American Contract Bridge League.

Cheri, a 6'3½" senior center at Simi Valley High, and Cheryl, a 6'2" junior forward at Riverside Poly, set unofficial Southern California girls' single-game basketball scoring records. Cheri, who is averaging 32.1 points a game, scored 61 in the Pioneers' 100-25 victory over Hueneme High on Jan. 23. Six days later Cheryl broke that record by getting 77 in the Bears' 137-11 win over Norte Vista High. This season Cheryl is shooting 76% and has an average of 38.4 points a game.
