Hill, a 6'1", 175-pound senior safety, returned four interceptions 159 yards to lead DePauw to a 31-7 win over St. Norbert. He also ran back two kickoffs for a total of 79 yards. Hill was the NCAA Division III pole-vault titlist last spring.

Niurka, 12, the USTA's 36th-ranked 12-and-under girl at the start of the year, was second in her age group's hard-court nationals, losing to top-seeded Stephanie Rehe 6-2, 6-3, and won the clay courts, beating No. 1 Kerri Reiter 6-3,6-1.

Tom, a sophomore at Campolindo High, won three gold medals at the junior swimming nationals in Mission Viejo, Calif.: the 200-meter breaststroke (2:24.73), and the 200 (2:09.55) and 400 (4:35.41) individual medleys.

Harbin, a 72-year-old retired purchasing agent, and Smith, a 63-year-old retired tool and die maker and Harbin's playing partner, fired consecutive holes in one on the 157-yard, par-3 8th hole of the Chippendale Golf Course in Kokomo. It was the second lifetime ace for Harbin, who shot first, with a five-wood, and finished with a round of 87; Smith, a former resident of Kokomo, used a five-iron to nail his first hole-in-one ever and had an 85 on the par-71 course.

VICKY DAVIS
YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO
Vicky, a senior at Woodrow Wilson High, won the AAU/U.S.A. Junior Olympic title in the girls' 400-meter run with a clocking of 55.33 and placed third in the 200 with a 24.57. As a junior she ran a 54.86 400, a girls' state high school record.
