Caitlin, 16, in her third year of fencing, won the under-20 women's foil title at the USFA Junior Olympics. She's No. 3 on the U.S. women's fencing squad and played wing for the state-champion Concord Carlisle High soccer team.

Purdy, 34, an engineer, earned 123 bridge master points in 1981, most by any of the more than 30,000 tournament players who began '81 with fewer than five points. He was named American Contract Bridge League Rookie of the Year.

Fridgen, a senior left wing for the 17-8-1 Colgate University hockey team, scored hat tricks in four straight games. He leads the East with 33 goals, has 17 assists and ranks as the Red Raiders' alltime leading goal scorer with 109.

Carr, a junior at Iowa State, won the 150-pound crown at the prestigious Midlands wrestling meet and has an 18-4-1 record this year. A 1981 NCAA champ and two-time Big Eight titlist, Carr has a collegiate mark of 84-15-1.

Lisa and Lynnette, 21-year-old twins, have led the University of Illinois women's basketball team to a 21-7 record this season. Lisa, a 5'10" guard, has gotten 16.5 points and 5.3 rebounds a game; Lynnette, a 5'11" forward, has averaged 13.2 points and 10.1 rebounds. Lisa holds the Illini women's career (1,841 points), season (658) and single-game (40) scoring marks. Lynnette holds the school women's career records for rebounds (886) and field-goal accuracy (50.0%).
