Steve, a 6'3" senior forward, had 35 points and 16 rebounds to pace Sir Francis Drake to an 87-85 win over Banning in the California Division II high school basketball title game. The victory extended Drake's win streak to 56 games.

Clark, a senior centerfielder at North Carolina Wesleyan College, stole his 55th base of the season and the 190th of his four-year career, the most ever by an NCAA player. Clark reached this sum in 207 tries, a 91.8% rate of success.
Mikey, 6, and Steve, 9, were perhaps the two most prolific goal-scorers in organized hockey this season. Mikey, a 3'3", 47-pound center, had 211 goals in 27 games for HWR Sports, runner-up in the Hamilton (Ont.) Minor Hockey Association. Taunted by an opposing goalie in one game, he fired in 18 goals. Steve scored 342 goals in 57 games to lead Glenview to a 56-1 record and the state Mites title. He is a son of Tae Jing Suk, a former heavyweight judo champ of the Republic of Korea.
Sipp, 43, an English teacher at Cherry Hill High School East, ran a mile on his birthday to complete a 32-year-old self-set goal. It was the last of the 24,901.55 miles he had run since 1950, the equivalent of a trip around the world.
Valerie, a 6'3" senior center for Southridge High's 20-4 girls' basketball team, averaged 22.6 points and 20 rebounds a game, tops in both categories among girls and boys in Dade County. She began playing hoops only three years ago.
