Glover, now 18, set a national 16-17 age-group record in the 132-pound class at the Georgia USPF/AAU Powerlifting Championships with a total of 1,080 pounds in three events: squat (415 pounds), bench press (245) and dead lift (420).

STATE COLLEGE, PA.
Strauss, a recent graduate of State College High, won the girls' 1,600-and 3,200-meter runs (4:48.94 and 10:36.45) at the state meet to become the first Pennsylvania girl to earn all-state honors in track and cross-country four straight years.

SPRINGFIELD, MO.
Bill, 18, a high jumper for Parkview High, surpassed seven feet seven times this season, won the Golden West Invitational and, at the state meet in Jefferson City, set a state record of 7'3", the nation's best schoolboy jump this year.

DRURY GALLAGHER
MANHASSET, N.Y.
Gallagher, 43, an investment banker who holds seven national 40-44 age-group swimming titles, broke the record for the 27-mile around-Manhattan swim by 30 minutes, with a time of 7:14:42, on his first swim of more than four miles.

CHARLOTTE, N.C.
Pou, 53, a housewife, has won 35 club championships at six different golf clubs in Michigan and the Carolinas since 1948. Nineteen of her titles came at Myers Park Country Club in Charlotte, including one in each of the last 14 years.

MARK EGGINTON
ROY, UTAH
Egginton, 18, led Roy High, for which he played both guard and tackle, to the state AAAA football title, had Utah's longest high school shotput in 1982 (55'½") and pinned all 17 of his opponents en route to the state heavyweight wrestling crown.
