HARLETON, TEXAS
Gatlin, a recent Harleton High grad, twice won the East Texas high school all-around cowboy award and was a two-time state runner-up in calf roping. He was also Class A champ in the 110-meter high hurdles in 1981 and co-champ in 1982.

ST. LOUIS
Lori, 12, amassed a 23-9 record for the Mehlville Khoury League-champion St. Louis Angels fast-pitch Softball team. She had 265 strikeouts in 203 innings and four no-hitters and also led the Angels with a .455 average and 60 RBIs.
BILL SHELLENBERGER
LYNCHBURG, VA.
Shellenberger, 61, the second-winningest soccer coach in NCAA history, got his 300th career victory when Lynchburg College defeated Radford University 6-2. Now in his 28th year at Lynchburg, he has a career winning percentage of .706.
JAMES WEAVER
LAFAYETTE, IND.
James, a senior tailback at Lafayette Jefferson High, rushed for a school-record 338 yards on 30 carries and had four TDs in the Bronchos' 34-19 win over Anderson High. In 12 games, he gained 2,301 yards on 304 carries and scored 33 TDs.
JULIET FLYNT
WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS.
Flynt, 31, has coached the Pine Cobble School girls' lacrosse team to an eight-year record of 51-1-6, including a 10-0 mark this season. Overall, Pine Cobble has outscored its opponents 201-48, 42-5 during the 1982 regular season.
JOHN KUESTER
WATKINS, IOWA
John, 17, ran his high school career pitching record to 37-0 and threw his third no-hitter of the season as Norway High beat Palmer High 13-1 for the Iowa fall title. This autumn, Kuester had a 0.33 ERA, 89 strikeouts in 42 innings and hit .620.
