Bucher, 23, won her fifth straight World Cup freestyle ballet skiing title, in Livigno, Italy. Her routine was performed to selections from the themes of Rocky III and Chariots of Fire. She also won events this season in Austria and Germany.
Frolund, 82, a retired steelworker, has attended every high school football game played between local rivals South and Rayen, starting in 1911. Had he gone to high school, he would have attended South, which leads the series 34-29-7.

Kenneth, a senior at Feldwood High, and Pete, a senior at Woodward Academy, are believed to be the first two high school wrestlers in Georgia to go unbeaten in their four-year careers. Kenneth won his fourth straight Class AA championship, the last three of which were in the 112-pound class. Of his 97 wins, 82 were pins. Pete, also a 112-pounder, had a 101-0 record in Class AAA. He once beat an opponent despite twice dislocating his left shoulder during the match.
Carter, a junior at Oregon State, established an NCAA individual event record by scoring 9.9 on the balance beam at a four-team gymnastics meet on the OSU campus. Two years ago, she was the AIAW balance beam champ.
Alfonso, 19, defeated Jon Kendler 21-8, 21-18 to win his sixth national junior four-wall handball title, in Fort Lauderdale. A protégé of four-time national champion Naty Alvarado, he has won nationals in three different age classes.
