DAVE BURKHOLDER
WELLAND, ONTARIO.
Burkholder, a 5'10", 175-pound junior goaltender, stopped 73 of 76 shots in two games as Rochester (N.Y.) Institute of Technology won its first NCAA Division II hockey championship. Burkholder was named the tournament's MVP.

ROBIN CONKLIN
TROY, OHIO
Robin, 17, won her second straight USGF Class I all-around gymnastics title, scoring 71.15 points in combined compulsory and optional events. She was twice an all-around champion in Louisiana, having won there in 1979 and '81.

RAYMOND FORNES
RALEIGH, N.C.
Fornes, 40, a physicist and professor of textiles materials and management at North Carolina State, defeated Phil Piscitelli of Charlotte 21-6, 21-4 to win the state handball singles championship for the seventh time in 10 years.

JOHN LADERER
MEADVILLE, PA.
John, a senior at Meadville High, established state high school records in the 200-yard individual medley, with a time of 1:53.12, and in the 100 freestyle (45.94) at the state high school swimming championships in University Park.

BRIDGETT MOORE
ALAPAHA, GA.
Bridgett, a 5'11" senior forward at Berrien County High, averaged 19.6 points a game to lead the Rebelettes to a 28-1 record and the state girls' AAA basketball title. She also batted .489 for Berrien's state champion girls' softball team.

PHILADELPHIA
Pio, a 5'2" senior guard at Spring Garden College in Philadelphia, averaged 26.5 points and 9.9 assists per game in earning Middle Atlantic woman basketball Player of the Year honors. In four years with the Lady Bobcats she scored 3,052 points.
