PRO FOOTBALL 1983

The best news is that NFL 1983 will not bring a repeat of the ugly strike that ravaged the 1982 schedule. However, the season promises to provide collisions off the field as well as on, because of a growing drug problem and a big-bucks battle with the USFL for the game's superstars. In the stadiums impact players like Darrin Nelson and James Brooks (page 88) are coming on strong. John Riggins (page 98) is on a roll, and when it comes to action at the corner (page 24), John Madden will always offer the best insight into who did what to whom—and why (page 38).
