Borer, a sophomore goalkeeper for the University of North Carolina-Greensboro soccer team, set a school record with his 11th shutout—in only 12 games—of the season in the Spartans' victory over Virginia Wesleyan, 5-0.

Luke, 57, has coached the Hopkins High girls' swim team to eight consecutive North Lake Conference titles and 104 straight dual-meet victories since 1974. He has an 11-year career record of 111-4, including a 10-0 mark so far this season.

Carl, 13, beat Humberto Batista of Panama 13-1 to win the 70.5-pound title in Missoula, Mont, at the World Schoolboy Wrestling Championships. Carl also holds the AAU Junior Olympic freestyle and Greco-Roman crowns.

Bulger, 18, this year's U.S. national hang-gliding champion, became the first person to score a grand slam in the sport when he added the '83 Masters of Hang Gliding title to his U.S. crown. He was the youngest competitor at the Masters.

Marlene, a senior left forward for the Woburn High field hockey team, and her twin sister, Michelle, a center halfback, have led the Tannerettes to a 12-0-3 record and first place in the Middlesex League. Marlene ranks first in scoring, with 18 goals and three assists, while Michelle is a defensive star. They also were the youngest players ever to perform for the Stoneham senior women's ice hockey team, which won the U.S. national women's championship last April.
