CLAUDEVILLE, VA.
Tim, a 6'3", 269-pound senior linebacker at Patrick County High, averaged 19.3 tackles per game and made the Class AA all-state team, despite playing for the 0-10 Cougars. Through Sunday he also had an 11-O mark as a wrestler.

WEST HAVEN, CONN.
Jeff, 14, a left wing for Marshall's Garage in the West Haven Youth Hockey League, scored three goals in 13 seconds in a 6-6 tie. He missed by one second the world amateur record for scoring a hat trick in the shortest time.

TACOMA, WASH.
Vick, a senior goalkeeper at Simon Fraser University, B.C., didn't give up a goal in four tournament games as he led the Clan to the NAIA soccer championship. On the season, he shut out 14 of 23 teams and made NAIA All-America.

Cain, a sophomore guard at Odessa College, averaged 18.8 points and 10.0 assists through Sunday to lead the Lady Wranglers to a 23-3 mark and the top spot in the women's J.C. basketball poll. She was MVP in four tournaments this year.

LOUISVILLE
Sapienza, a junior at Dartmouth, won his second straight Heptagonal cross-country title, running the 10-km course in 24:31.1. He also was the top American finisher in the IC4A meet, placing third, and holds 13 school running records.

RYAN KNIGHT
RIVERSIDE, CALIF.
Ryan, a 6'2", 205-pound senior at Rubidoux High, ran for a state-record 501 yards in the Falcons' 56-6 defeat of Corona High. He finished the season with 2,620 yards rushing and 30 TDs. In the past two years, he has run for 4,597 yards.
