Farrare, 35, a 6'2" senior swingman for Maryland-Eastern Shore, is believed to be the country's oldest major-college basketball player. He had worked for eight years as a tuna company supervisor before averaging 7.3 ppg for the 7-21 Hawks.

Jeff, a sophomore at Kirby Hall School, swam the 200-meter freestyle in 1:56 to break by 1.64 seconds the national 13-14 age-group record. He also holds Texas age-group records in the 100-and 200-yard and 200-meter backstroke.

FRESNO, CALIF.
Kalen, a senior guard at San Joaquin Memorial High and a three-time All-Northern California selection, averaged 23 points a game and led the 21-6 Panthers to the state tournament quarterfinals where she scored 150 points in four games.

Peterson, 41, coached the Hawaii at Hilo women's volleyball team to its third straight NAIA title. A two-time Olympian (1964 and '68), Peterson had a six-year record of 165-41 at Hilo. She recently signed to coach the Kentucky women.

Kevin and Robert, seniors at Suffield Academy, helped the Tigers to undefeated seasons and the New England Class B Prep School Basketball and Prep School Soccer championships, despite playing mostly against schools with enrollments significantly larger than Suffield's 350. Kevin, a halfback on the 15-0-2 soccer team, was also a 9.6-point-a-game guard on the 21-0 basketball team. Bob, a 6'2" All-State goalie, allowed only seven goals in 17 games and scored 9.8 a game in basketball.
