Ned, a junior forward for St. Anthony's High, scored three goals in 21 seconds to help the Friars beat Commack High 9-1 in the Suffolk County divisional ice hockey championship. Ned totaled 16 goals and 16 assists during the season.

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA.
Clare, a junior at St. Thomas Aquinas High, beat Middleburg High's Chris Garland 6-2, 6-2 to win the state Class AAA girls' tennis crown. She thus joins sisters Jeanne (1973) and Chris (1970, '71 and '72) as a state tennis titlist.

Tony, a junior leftfielder at Waskom High, was three for four with three homers and six RBIs in the third inning as the Wildcats whipped Ore City High 25-2. In all, 17 runs were scored in Waskom's hour-and-15-minute turn at bat.

GRAND BLANC, MICH.
Roberts, 67, a former dairy farmer who stands 4'11" and weighs 118 pounds, has dead-lifted 221 pounds, squatted 149½ and bench-pressed 83—all women's U.S. records for her age group. In her division she won the women's 65-69 title.

Bo and David, both 18, are four-time state wrestling titlists and current champs in the 132-pound division. A senior at Eldorado High, Bo defeated Bob Pfeifer of Carlsbad High for his most recent New Mexico Class AAAA crown; he previously held titles at 98, 112 and 126 pounds. David, a junior at Lakota High, beat Rich Voegeli of Ellendale High for his latest North Dakota Class B 132-pound championship. He's a former winner at 98, 119 and 126 pounds.
