REID RYAN

Reid, 12, son of the Astros' Nolan Ryan, paced the Alvin American Little League Mets to a 4-0 win over the Buffs by fanning 11 during the first no-hitter of his career. He made the all-star team with a 5-0 record and 54 strikeouts in 29 innings.

MAICEL MALONE
INDIANAPOLIS
Maicel is believed to be the first freshman to win three events at the Indiana high school track meet. She led North Central High to the girls' title by accounting for 30 of the Panthers' 38 points, winning the 100-, 200-and 400-meter dashes.

BOYD POLHAMUS
SPARTA, WIS.
Boyd, 18, was named all-around cowboy for the third consecutive year at the state high school rodeo in Tomah. He accumulated 322.375 points, 177.75 better than his nearest rival, and won the bareback bronc riding and team roping events.

HEATHER HARTMAN
DOVER, DEL.
Heather, who will enter the University of Mississippi this fall, beat Paula Gross 6-0, 6-1 to win her third straight Delaware girls' scholastic tennis title. She didn't lose a set while amassing a 52-0 record during her four-year high school career.

KENT FRANDSEN
LEBANON, IND.
Frandsen, a 33-year-old lawyer, shot a four-under-par 284 to beat collegians Brian Tennyson and Len Hartlage by four strokes and win his third state amateur golf title. All three were won on Columbus's Otter Creek course.

JENNIFER POLANSKI
CENTERVILLE, OHIO
Jennifer, who will be a senior at Centerville High this fall, placed first all-around for the third consecutive year in the Western Ohio League and at the district gymnastics championships. She's the state uneven bars champion.
