Jon, a 13-year-old midfielder for the Santa Clara United under-14 Arsenal Gunners, scored three goals and assisted on another in a 4-0 win over the Tampa Blazers as Santa Clara won the Friendship Cup in Denver.

Weinkofsky, a 23-year-old lifeguard, was the top female finisher in an international field of 20 at the Atlantic City marathon swim race around Absencon Island. She finished third overall and completed the 22½ miles in 10 hours, 25 minutes.

West, 18, who will be a freshman at James Madison University, finished his senior year at Green Run High as the state AAA wrestling champion in the unlimited division with a 26-0 record. He was also all-state in football as a noseguard.

Windi-Sue, 6, in a period of 22 days set three national road age-group racing records: in the 15,000 meter (1:15.35), the 20,000 (2:03.00) and the 25,000 (2:48.55). She has been running competitively since she was three.

MITZIE PLAEGER
METAIRIE, LA.
Steve, 16, set a decathlon record of 6,844 points in the intermediate division (ages 15-16) at the AAU-USA Junior Olympics in Jacksonville. The McPherson High junior bettered the 1980 mark of Mike Gonzales by 239 points. At the same meet, Mitzie, 15, established a Junior Olympic heptathlon record of 4,385 points in the same division, 19 better than the year-old standard set by Penny Martin of New Orleans. Mitzie is a sophomore at Ecole Classique in New Orleans.
