Carpenter, 20, rolled the highest three-game series, a 288-298-279-865, ever bowled in Cincinnati, in the Men's Suburban League at Stone's Lanes. His total was the 10th highest American Bowling Congress-sanctioned score ever.

Gwyneth, 13, rode Jeremy, a 15-year-old gelding, to a victory in the American Horse Show Association's Junior/ Young Rider National Dressage Championship (first level). She was the youngest competitor by two years.

Mike, a freshman at Walnut High, won the freestyle division and finished second overall at the World Junior Frisbee Championships in Orlando, Fla. Earlier, he won the four-state Western Regional title in Torrance, Calif.

GAITHERSBURG, MD.
Clare, 17, won the District II golf championship on the second hole of sudden death to lead Seneca Valley High to the team title. She also won the Maryland high school girls' crown (by 26 strokes) and the PGA national junior girls' title.

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y.
Dan, 17, a running back at Williamsville South High, scored six first-half TDs in the Billies' 47-0 win over Williamsville East High. He rushed for 1,548 yards, 25 touchdowns and a 7.7 yards per carry average for the 9-0 Billies.

BROCKTON, MASS.
Schuberth, a sophomore striker at New Hampshire College, scored 45 goals and had 14 assists for the Penmen's 19-0-1 women's soccer team. She averaged 5.1 assists a game for the women's basketball team last year and hit .347 in softball.
