Rasmussen, 67, won four gold medals in cycling at a Palm Beach, Fla. international senior sports competition in the three-mile, six-mile, 12-mile and 24-mile events. Rasmussen, who has competed since 1933, trains 250 miles a week.
Sue, a 5'9" senior setter-hitter at Clear Lake High, led the Falcons to a 36-0 record and their second consecutive state Class 5A volleyball championship. Last year the team was 35-1. Sue has been an all-state selection the past three years.
MT. PLEASANT, MICH.
Pat, a senior at Mt. Pleasant High, won his third state wrestling title (at 138 pounds in 1985, 132 in '84 and 112 in '82) and tied a national high school record with 143 straight wins. Pat, who will wrestle at Notre Dame, has a 168-1 record.
BEVERLY HILLS, CALIF.
Adam, 10, scored 36 goals and 16 assists in 14 games, leading the 13-1 Bishops to their American Youth Soccer Organization regional championship. In baseball Adam hit a league-leading .472 as his Reds won their Little League title.
Sue, a junior guard, and Marissa, a senior forward, each scored 26 points as Westbrook High capped a 26-0 season by defeating second-ranked East Hampton High 76-53 to win the Class S state basketball championship. The victory extended the White Knights' two-year winning streak to 36. It was coach Peter Shuler's (155-23 from 1978 to '85) fourth consecutive state title and Westbrook's sixth in eight years. Westbrook is Connecticut's 10th smallest high school.
