DOUG MARTIN
VAN BUREN, OHIO
Martin, a recent Van Buren High graduate and the 1984 U.S. Junior Amateur Golf champion, led his team to the state Class A title. In basketball, he averaged 12 ppg for the 26-1 Black Knights, who went to the final four in the state tournament.

RHONDA WHEATLEY
VALINDA, CALIF.
Wheatley, a sophomore softball pitcher at Cal Poly-Pomona, had a 0.27 ERA and a 48-16 record, which is thought to be the best college win total ever. She pitched one perfect game and five no-hitters and struck out 334 batters in 434‚Öì innings.

MIKE WAGNER
NORTH VERNON, IND.
Wagner, the 32-year-old wrestling coach at North Vernon Junior High, had his fifth consecutive undefeated season in dual competition. The Panthers have now won 40 varsity matches in a row, outscoring opponents 4,378 to 1,077.

LAUREN JACKSON
UPPER MONTCLAIR, N.J.
Jackson, a recent graduate of Newark Academy, led the girls' field hockey and lacrosse teams to the state B prep school championship in each sport. Playing attack, she scored 15 goals in field hockey and 78 in lacrosse her senior year.

PAUL GHILANI
NATICK, MASS.
Ghilani, a June graduate of Natick High, following Doug Flutie as quarterback, led the Redmen to a three-year record of 32-0. He pitched his baseball team to the 1985 Bay State league title and had a 35-5 career record.

SHANNON PARADIS
KINGSTON, N.H.
Shannon, 14, captain of Sanborn Middle School's track team, went undefeated this season in the 100-and 200-meter dashes and the long jump to lead the Indians to a 5-0 record. She holds all school and league records in those events.
