Hofstetter, a 29-year-old attorney and onetime Indiana University swimmer, set a world Master's record of 29.98 in the 50-meter breaststroke for the 25-29 age group. The time was .23 second faster than Brian Naisby's 1981 record.

Noelle, a sophomore at San Clemente High School, won the United States Tennis Association's singles championship for 14-and-under girls. She defeated Luann Spadea of Boca Raton, Fla., the tournament's No. 1 seed, 6-4, 6-2 in the final at South Fulton Center in Atlanta. Teri, a junior at Neenah High, who was the 25th seed, beat Karman Wilkison of Adrian, Mich. 7-5, 6-3 to earn the USTA's 16-and-under girls' title at the Charleston Tennis Club in Charleston, W. Va.

Rogers, 22, a machinist and a student, won the National Field Archery Association's freestyle unlimited championship in Darrington, Wash. with 2,723 points, defeating runner-up Rick McMillan of Marietta, Okla. by two points.

Cobb, 69, shot three holes in one in less than 30 hours. The first came on the 167-yard 7th hole at Meeker Golf Course. The next day he aced the 167-yard 3rd and the 162-yard 9th holes on Craig's Yampa Valley course.

JACKSON, MISS.
Brandy, 15, surpassed the AAU/USA Junior Olympic heptathlon record for intermediate girls (ages 15-16) with 5,079 points at the national championships in Iowa City, Iowa. She broke by 533 points the previous mark set in 1982.
