Ammaccapane, an Arizona State junior who won the NCAA golf title last spring, followed with a victory in the Women's Amateur Public Links championship in June and tied for low amateur at the U.S. Open in July.

Tommy won the USTA national boys' 12s championship in San Diego by defeating Ivan Baron 6-4, 2-6, 6-0. Earlier this year he won the boys' 12s titles at the national clay court, the national hard court and the Tropicana national tournaments.

James, a senior at Tuscola High, and Chambers, a freshman at Indiana University, set national records in the senior boys' division at the AAU/Jr. Olympics in Iowa City, Iowa. James, representing the Durham Striders Track Club, broke Freeman Miller's 1980 triple-jump record by 3½" with a 51'9¼", and Chambers, of the Unique Track Club, jumped 24'2¾" to surpass the long-jump mark of 24'½" set in 1980 by John Dial and equaled in 1984 by Terrance Parks.
LEE'S SUMMIT, MO.
Sara, 8, a third-grader at Prairie View Elementary, became the youngest person ever to hold a state fishing record in Missouri when she caught a 26½-pound grass carp in a farm pond at an Optimist Club derby. The fish measured 38¼".
