Patti, 15, set two age-group swim records at the Junior Olympic Games in Iowa City, Iowa—1:09.89 in the 100-meter butterfly and 2:36.94 in the 200 IM—and swam the backstroke leg on a 400-meter medley relay team that set a record of 5:05.675. Genna, 13, won the one-meter diving Junior Olympic 12-and-under title in Lincoln, Neb., then won the same event at the Junior Worlds at The Woodlands, Texas. Genna is the youngest diver ever to qualify for the senior national championships.

Roberts, a junior at Memphis State, beat Roger Harripersad 15-11, 15-10 to win the men's open racquetball division at the World Games in London. He was the Pan Am Games titlist in 1984 and twice Intercollegiate National Champion.

TONYA KESSINGER
LOUISVILLE
Tonya, an eighth-grader at DeLaura Jr. High, won gold medals in track at the Bluegrass State Games in the 100-meter (13.3), 200 (28.9), 400 (1:05.1) and 800 (2:43) runs. She also won the state Junior Olympic 400-meter title in 1:05.9.

INDIANAPOLIS
Nels, 33, piloted Challenger, his 65,000 cubic-foot balloon, to a second straight National Hot Air Balloon Championship in Indianola, Iowa, beating Bruce Comstock of Ann Arbor, Mich. in Watermelon by 107 points. He began ballooning in 1974.

TOM McKNIGHT
GALAX, VA.
McKnight, 31, a fuel oil distributor, swept all four state golf championships by winning the Mid-Championship in Roanoke. He earlier won the state open and amateur titles and teamed with Allan Strange to win the two-man team title.
