Jeff, a senior quarterback at Warren Central High, completed 252 of 422 passes for 3,094 yards and 45 touchdowns to lead the Warriors to their second straight state championship. In three seasons he threw for 8,126 yards and 94 touchdowns.

Reuben, a senior at John Jay High and two-time Texas champion at 3,200 meters, won the national Kinney Cross Country Championship by beating 31 other top high school runners at Balboa Park in San Diego. He covered the 5,000-meter course in 14:36.8, smashing the record of 14:50 set in 1984 by Scott Fry of Sandusky, Ohio. Erin, a junior at Langley High, won the girls' division in 16:43.80, six one-hundredths of a second off the course record set in 1983 by Janet Smith of Edison, N.J.

FREEHOLD, N.J.
Joe, a senior running back at Freehold Boro High, led the Colonials to a 10-1 season, rushing for 1,859 yards and scoring 25 touchdowns. In two seasons he carried the ball 347 times for 3,338 yards, averaging 9.6 yards a carry.

DANA BROMMERS
SPOKANE
Dana, a sixth-grader at Ponderosa Elementary School, scored 28 goals to lead the Spokane Valley Hotshot soccer team to a 7-0 record in the Spokane girls' recreational league. She has scored 78 goals in three seasons with the Hotshots.

MICHAEL CORTRIGHT
PHOENIX
Michael, a senior at St. Mary's High, set a national high school career record of 36 field goals, surpassing the 33 kicked by Luis Zendejas of Chino, Calif. from 1977 to '80. Nineteen of Michael's field goals were kicked last season.
