Matthias, a freshman guard on the Palm Beach Junior College basketball team, scored 62 points in a 113-112 OT win over Miami Dade Community College-North. He averaged 42.6 points per game and led the nation's junior colleges in scoring.

WADSWORTH, OHIO
Moore, 75, a retired office-supply store owner, bowled a 300 game in the Early Risers League at the Great Oaks Lanes. He had a 996 four-game series on scores of 182,300, 268 and 246, with 18 consecutive strikes over one stretch.
KERRI BUTCHER
UKIAH, CALIF.
Butcher, a senior at Pacific Lutheran University, won the 50-yard freestyle (24.64), 100-yard free (53.79) and 100-yard butterfly (57.93) and was on three winning relays during the NAIA swimming championships in Spokane.

BURLINGTON, MASS.
Fusco, a senior center and captain of the Harvard hockey team, had five assists in an 11-0 victory over defending NCAA champion RPI. He was the Crimson's regular-season leader in scoring with 21 goals and 40 assists.

Miller, 48, coached the Paducah Tilghman High basketball team to its 15th Second District title in 18 years. During the season Miller also achieved the 500th victory in his 22-year career; he goes into the state tourney with a 509-156 record. Van Reeth, 50, coached West Holmes High to a 46-42 win over Tipp City in the final game for its third straight Class AA girls' basketball state championship and its 84th consecutive victory, a state record for both boys' and girls' teams.
