Lynda, a senior forward on the Ventura High basketball team, set a national high school girls' career assist record of 857, surpassing the mark of 670 set by Tami Fick of Coronado, Calif. from 1976 to '79. She had 293 assists this season.

Holland, 63, a retired independent trucker who has been bowling since 1950, rolled an 845 series, including a pair of perfect games, at Ozark Lanes in Fayetteville, Ark. Holland, who competes in the Ozark Businessmen league, averages 202.

Shelly, a senior at River Valley High, ended her four-year basketball career with 2,108 points to become the state's alltime scoring leader. Ann Kattreh of Kohler High set the previous mark of 1,993 points from 1980 to '83.

Jack, a 9-year-old center who plays hockey in the Batavia mite division, scored three goals in 20 seconds in the first period and added two more in the third period to lead the Ramparts to a 9-1 victory over the Buffalo Bisons.
