Kim, a 5'6", 130-pound senior at Beddingfield High, set a U.S. high school indoor best with a triple jump of 39'1¾", 10¼" beyond the mark established last year by Andie Kopf of Spencer-port, N.Y. Kim is also the state long jump champ.

ODESSA, TEXAS
Krall, 56, a dentist, caught a world-record (50-pound-line class) 19-pound Pacific cod at Shelter Island near Juneau, Alaska. It was five pounds, five ounces heavier than Julius Coronado's record catch at the same place last year.

KIRKWOOD, MO.
Michelle, a 12-year-old sixth-grade striker at St. Gerard Majella School, amassed 55 goals and 21 assists while leading her team to a 25-0-0 season record and the St. Louis Catholic Youth Council girls' soccer championship.

LUANNE SPADEA
BOCA RATON, FLA.
Luanne, 13, an eighth-grader at Logger's Run Middle School, won the girls' 14-and-under Orange Bowl World Junior tennis title, beating Dierdre Herman of Harrisburg. Pa. 6-3, 6-3. She's ranked second in the U.S. in her age group.

MALIBU, CALIF.

Brett, a 138-pound Wayzata High senior, won his second consecutive state high school class AA wrestling championship, extending his unbeaten streak to 60 matches. He gave up only seven points all season and had a 30-0-1 record. Laurence, a 5'8" senior at Santa Monica High, won his third straight state wrestling title, in the 130-pound class. A two-time junior national freestyle champion, he finished his high school career with a 122-match winning streak.
