Christy, a sophomore righthander at Baptist Park High, pitched four consecutive no-hitters to break the national high school girls' softball record of three straight, held by seven players. She led the Wildcats to a season record of 24-1.

Davis, a senior first baseman at Iowa Wesleyan, hit two grand slam home runs in the first inning of a 20-3 win over Cornell College. Davis had a .453 batting average, with 37 RBIs and seven home runs in 27 games for the Tigers this season.

Yolanda, a George Washington High senior, ran the 100-meter low hurdles in 13.18 at the city public school invitational to set a girls' national high school record. The time shaved .02 off the mark held by Tanya Davis of Houston.

GINGER HELGESON
EDINA, MINN.
Ginger, a senior at Edina High, became the first girl to win the state Class AA tennis singles title three times. After a loss in the state championship match as a freshman, Ginger went undefeated, ending with a high school record of 153-4.

Daigle, a 56-year-old heavy-equipment operator, using live smelt for bait, caught a 10-pound, four-ounce landlocked Atlantic salmon at the mouth of Square Lake, Aroostook County, to establish a world ice-fishing record.

MECHANICSVILLE, VA.
Ward, a Sweet Briar College freshman, rode her horse, Swiss Watch, to victory in the national individual intercollegiate riding championship in Pinehurst, N.C. Sweet Briar defeated 11 other schools to win the team competition.
