As soon as Boris Becker won his second Wimbledon title, the
Associated Press moved a feature that read in part: ''If he were just
a little mischievous, the kid could pass for one of Twain's famous
characters with no trouble. But instead of Auntie Em, Becker has Ion
Tiriac, the fierce-looking Romanian with the drooping mustache,
looking after him.'' An astute Twain buff -- or was it a fan of L.
Frank Baum? -- spotted the faulty relationship, and a directive came
across the wire: ''Correct Auntie Em to Aunt Polly.''
