Pauley, 48, a 5 ft. 4 in. 100-pounder, caught a 301-pound
broadbill swordfish in the waters off Nantucket Island, Mass. Pauley,
who has fished for 15 years, used an 80-pound-test line to land the
fish after a battle of 1 hour, 32 minutes.

CHURCHVILLE, VA.
David, a 12-year-old second baseman and pitcher, batted .900 with
6 homers and 15 RBIs to lead Staunton to its second Babe Ruth
Bambino state title in three years. He had a 2.900 slugging average
in four tournament games.

Shanoa, 12, of the L.A. Jets Track and Field Club, set a TAC
national record for Midget Girls (ages 11-12) in the 400 meters with
a time of 57 seconds at a meet in Eugene, Ore. She anchored the
winning 4 X 100 and 4 X 400 teams, also.

MONTREAL
Fuller, a junior at the University of Florida, swept the
one-meter, three- meter and platform diving events at the Canadian
championships in Calgary. At the Commonwealth Games, she won gold in
the three-meter and platform events.
AMY PETTENGILL
HAGAMAN, N.Y.
Pettengill, 23, had a 0.15 ERA and a 17-3 record to lead her
Muddy's Too softball team to a first-place finish in the Troy WINS
League. She pitched 12 shutouts and allowed only three earned runs
during the season.
FORNEY BASSHAM
STOCKTON, CALIF.
Bassham, 57, a righthanded pitcher for Robertson Homes, a
softball team in the Major Division, defeated Brannon Tire 4-3 for
the 800th victory of his 34-year career. He has pitched 36
no-hitters, including 16 perfect games.
