Chenoweth, a freshman wrestler at the University of Nebraska, won the 178-pound freestyle title at the National Junior Olympic Championships, in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The three-time Oklahoma high school champion has a 91-7 career record.

Thompson, 37, a housewife, won her third consecutive and 10th overall Pennsylvania women's amateur golf championship by defeating Laura Tyler 4 and 2 in the 36-hole final match at Aronimink Golf Club, in Newtown Square, Pa.

Scotty, 11, pitched the Yankees to a 12-0-2 record, their second consecutive undefeated season in the Surfside Beach Dixie Youth Minors Division. Scotty's 8-0 record included one no-hitter, a pair of one-hitters and three two-hitters.

Beattie, 51, an orthodontist, set a world masters record (50-55 age group) with a clocking of 32.41 in the 50-meter backstroke at the World Masters championships, in Tokyo. He also won gold in the 100- and 200-meter backstrokes.

Johnson, 47, a sailboat manufacturer, and her identical twin sister, Copland, a personnel agent, won the master women's doubles event at the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta in St. Catharines, Ont., defeating Barb Murgatroid and Marg Churchill of the Hanlan Boat Club of Toronto by half a boat length. This is Johnson's first year sculling and only the second year for Copland. The victory marked the first time that the twins had ever rowed together in competition.
