Rudy, 17, won the World Junior Men's figure skating title in Kitchener, Ont., and a bronze in the pairs with his partner, Kristi Yamaguchi of Fremont, Calif. He is the first skater ever to win two medals at the world junior championships.

Washington, a tailback at Gavilan Community College, rushed for 3,565 yards in two seasons, second in junior college history to Clyde Russell of Garden City (Kan.) Community College, who amassed 3,676 yards in 1971-72.

Luis, who is a junior at Spanish River Community High, set two state swimming records in the Class AAAA meet in Orlando in the 200- and the 500-yard freestyle. His 4:24.64 time in the 500 free broke the old mark by 5.58 seconds.

Windy, who is a senior at Pace Academy, won her second Class A state cross-country title, in Marietta, by completing the 3.1-mile course in 19:47. Windy has also won three straight Class A two-mile titles and a Class A mile title.

Peggy, a senior at Villa Duchesne High, scored 51 goals and led her field hockey team to a 19-0 season and the Independent Schools League and Midwest tournament championships, the first time a team has won both titles in a season.
KIRK WALLMAN
FREEMAN, S.D.
Kirk, a sophomore at Freeman High, set a state high school wrestling mark by pinning Kurt Chenoweth of Mitchell High for his 97th consecutive victory. Wallman has also won six grand national AAU freestyle titles in his age group.
