Julie, 18, threw nine no-hitters and fanned 380 batters in 174 innings to lead Casey-Westfield High to the Class A state softball final. There she lost the first game of her four-year, 57-1 career, a 2-0 two-hitter to Bunker Hill.

Kerdyk, who will be a senior at the University of Miami, eagled the 469-yard, par-5 5th hole at the Cog Hill Golf and Country Club en route to beating Pearl Sinn 4 and 3 for the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links title in Lemont, Ill.

Schnorbus, 61, took five gold and two silver swimming medals at the National Senior Olympics. She won the 50- (40.85) and 100- (1:31.81) meter freestyle and the 50- (48.06), 100- (1:47.90) and 200- (4:12.94) meter backstroke.

WICHITA, KANS.
Steelsmith, 23, won two gold, a silver and two bronze medals at the World Bowling Championships in June and also rolled the first 300 game in the 33-year history of the event. In May he won the ABC Masters tournament.

Tonya, a junior at Rancocas Valley High, was first in the 400-meter hurdles (1:00.80), 100-meter hurdles (14.66), long jump (17'10") and high jump (5'8") at the New Jersey Group III state track championships in South Plainfield.

ORANGE, CALIF.
Nelson, 21, a senior outfielder at Chapman College, batted .388 with 21 homers and 77 RBIs in 54 games to become the first triple-crown winner in California Collegiate Athletic Association history. He also led in doubles (22).
