Carol, a senior pitcher, was 30-0 this season with an 0.35 ERA as she paced 33-0 Gibbs High to its fourth Class AA girls' state softball title in five years. As the leadoff batter for the Lady Eagles, she also hit .573 and stole 65 bases.

CARMELITA WILLIAMS
EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill.
Carmelita, a sophomore, led East St. Louis Lincoln High to its sixth straight girls' state track title, becoming the first girl to sweep the sprints in the meet's 15-year history. She won the 100-meter in 11.9, the 200 in 24.1 and the 400 in 54.3.

Blom, a 59-year-old steel salesman, has eagled or double-eagled every hole of the 6,659-yard, par-72 Maketewah Country Club course in Cincinnati. He has had 10 aces on the four par 3s, the first coming in 1959 on the 174-yard 12th.

KEVIN NORTHRUP
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C.
Kevin, a shortstop and pitcher, batted .532 with 11 homers and a state-leading 48 RBIs and was 10-1 on the mound this season as a junior to lead Hilton Head High to the state Class AA finals. Last year he was 9-0 for the Seahawks.

WILLITS, CALIF.

Sherrie, 13, and Monica, 11, won seven gold and two silver medals as they led the LTR Gymnastics Academy to the Northern California Class IV title in Vallejo. Sherrie scored an individual state Class IV record of 37.65 points as she won her age-group (12-14) all-around crown with firsts on the uneven bars and beam and in the floor exercise. Monica scored 36.65 points, winning her age-group (9-11) all-around title with first-place finishes on the beam and in the floor exercise.
