Casinelli, 20, defeated a field of 309 to win his second World Bodysurfing Championship within five years, at the Oceanside (Calif.) pier. In one of the heats he scored 110 of a possible 120 points, the highest total in the competition.

Hearn, a 28-year-old Whitewater equipment designer, outpaddled Jed Prentice by .17 of a second to win the single-canoe Whitewater slalom at the American Canoe Association championships in Wausau, Wis., for his 18th national title.

Scott and Jenny, a senior and junior, respectively, at Westwood High, became the first brother and sister pair to win the open divisions of the four-day Austin Junior City Championship golf tournament in the same year. Scott shot a 16-over-par 304 for a two-stroke victory over a field of 40 in the men's division, and Jenny had a 23-over-par 311 to beat out a dozen other competitors in the women's division. The tournament was played over three different municipal courses.

HOLLYWOOD, FLA.
Chris, a fifth-grader at the Nativity School, had a two-year record of 36-0 as a righthanded pitcher for the Mustang Division of the Hollywood Hills Baseball league. This year he fanned 77 in 44 innings, had a 2.04 ERA and batted .676.
