Reynolds, 55, a civil engineering consultant and a former All-America swimmer at Michigan State, became the oldest person to swim from Catalina Island to Palos Verdes, Calif. He covered the 20.5 miles in 10 hours. 34 minutes.
McCombe, 77, who has been playing golf for 56 years, beat Alex Burns of West Palm Beach. Fla.. 4 and 3, to win the ladies' club title at the Ould Newberry (Mass.) Golf Course. McCombe was 1961 Connecticut women's senior champion.
Jeff, 9, batted .664 and had a 12-1 pitching record in leading the Oakville All-Stars (ages 9 and 10) to four tournament championships and two different league titles. He belted seven home runs, eight triples and 23 doubles.
Julie, 16, set junior national age-group records in both the 400-meter individual medley and the 200 IM at the U.S. Junior Olympic Eastern Division meet in Fort Lauderdale. Her times were 4:58.60 and 2:21.21, respectively.

Klimek, 53, longtime trainer of amateur boxers and a member of Nebraska's Boxing Hall of Fame, won three age-group (50-55) gold medals at the Cornhusker Games with wins in the 800 (2:47), 1,500 (5:35) and 3,000 (11:32) meters.
Juliana, 15, set a girls' intermediate age-group triple-jump record at the TAC/Junior Olympics Championship in Provo. Utah. Her jump of 39'8¾" was 3¼" better than the previous mark, set by Carletta Guidry of Houston in 1984.
