Kyle, a junior center striker on the St. Xavier High soccer team, set a school record when he scored seven goals in an 11-0 victory over Purcell Marian High. He has drilled home 17 goals this year for the Bombers, who are 11-6-1.

Tomiko, 13, won six medals, four of them gold, in singles, doubles and team table tennis at the Junior Olympics in Syracuse, N.Y. With Alyssa Rheingold, 13, of Boca Raton, Fla., she won the 18-and-under open doubles title.

Brian, 9, led the Cubs to the North Medford Little League title when he struck out 18 batters in a six-inning championship game against the Yankees. During the regular season he had 130 strikeouts, for an average of 2.1 per inning.

ERIE, PA.
Filutze, 41, set a national masters (age 40 and over) women's record when she ran the 10K Great Race in Pittsburgh in 33:41, breaking the previous point-to-point mark of 33:55. She holds masters records in the 5K and half-marathon.

DALLAS
Russell, a junior at Dallas Christian High, kicked a 67-yard field goal—one yard short of the national high school record set by Dirk Borgognone of Reno (Nev.) High in 1985—in the Chargers' 67-0 rout of Fort Worth Nolan.

JANET MULLIGAN
COSHOCTON, OHIO
Mulligan, 70, won seven gold medals in the 70-74 age group in a variety of distances in the freestyle, backstroke and team relay events at the U.S. Masters Swimming National Long Course Championships in The Woodlands, Texas.
