Beth, 13, sped to junior national titles in both the J-Stock Hydro and the J-Stock Runabout classes at the Stock Outboard powerboat championships, in Hinton, W.Va. Beth won 19 of her first 20 races this season in the two classes.

Jackson, 41, and his son Mark, 18, bowled a 424-398 to defeat 41 other teams from the U.S. and Canada in the final round of the Avco National Family Bowling Tournament, in Washington, D.C. The competition, the preliminary rounds for which began in March, involved some 66,000 bowlers. Mark and his father, who just 10 days before the finals had been hospitalized with a back ailment, earned a $5,000 scholarship for Mark's sophomore year at Cal.

Robert, a freshman at Sandia High, made 38 of 40 shots to win the national free-throw title in the 14-and-under division and averaged 10.6 points in five games at the AAU/USA Junior Olympics in Bellevue, Wash.

Brian, 12, got his first two holes in one, in a six-day span. He used a seven-iron to ace the 145-yard par-3 11th at the Saluda Valley Country Club. Then he aced the 162-yard par-3 17th at the Myrtlewood Golf Course with a five-iron.

Heidi, a junior at New Smyrna Beach High, kicked six extra points in a 50-6 win over Daytona Beach Mainland High. She booted one field goal and made 13 of 15 PATs to score 16 points in the Barracudas' first six games.
