Cashing In at Centre Court

The games of July had an international flavor. At Wimbledon, Martina Navratilova won a record sixth straight (and eighth overall) women's singles title, and Aussie upstart Pat Cash got his first men's crown, losing only one set the entire fortnight. Up north, at Muirfield, England's own Nick Faldo emerged as the British Open champion when his rivals lost their way in the Scottish mist. Stephen Roche, a Dubliner, rode off with the Tour de France, while back in the States, Yankee first baseman Don Mattingly homered in a record-tying eight consecutive games.
