Magee, 46, the men's basketball coach at Philadelphia Textile college, got his 400th win when the Rams beat Shippensburg 75-62. Magee has a 21-year record of 400-169 and holds Textile's career scoring record (2,235 points).

Kira, a junior at Rancho Buena Vista High and the fastest schoolgirl miler in the country last year, with a 4:47.66, won the national high school cross-country championship, beating 31 other runners over a 5,000-meter course in San Diego's Balboa Park. She finished in 17:08.7, eight seconds ahead of Susan Bliss of St. Charles, Mo. Robert, a senior at Westerville North High, ran the same course in 14:59—even though he fell descending a hill—to beat John Sence of Milford, Ohio, by 9.9 seconds.
