Sandy, 16, won the women's world horseshoe pitching title in Eau Claire, Wis. She pitched a world-record 88.2% ringers to beat Diane Cantin of Saint Raymond, Que., who also set a world mark by pitching 54 straight ringers.

Tyler, a fifth-grader at Philomath Middle School, won the bantam division (ages 10 and under) at the Junior Olympics national cross-country championships in Raleigh, N.C. He ran the 3-km course in 10:56, to triumph by .7 of a second.

Debbie, a senior guard on the North Judson-San Pierre High girls' basketball team, scored 21 points in a 51-50 win over Crown Point to become the alltime leading scorer in Indiana girls' high school basketball, with 2,112 points.

Doyle, 39, won his fourth Georgia State Golf Association amateur championship, defeating Hugh Royer of Columbus, at Doublegate Country Club. He also won the state mid-amateur (25 and over) title for the third time.

Jason (left), a seventh-grader at Judson Middle School, and Adam, a seventh-grader at Chinook Middle School, won the national boys' 12-and-under indoor doubles tennis title by beating Paul Harsanyi of Potomac, Md., and Daniel Chung of Rockville, Md., 6-1, 6-0. Last summer Adam and Jason won both the Junior National Hardcourt Doubles crown and the Junior National Doubles championship. In 15 matches in national tournaments, they lost only two sets.
