THE FLYING FINN
Matti Nykänen streaked down the run and into history
Eddie (The Eagle) Edwards of Great Britain was good for a few laughs, but the real birdman of the Calgary Games was Matti Nykänen of Finland, who became the first Olympian ever to win gold medals in both the 70-and 90-meter ski jump competitions. "When he jumps," said awed U.S. ski jumper Mike Holland, "it seems as if he's going up, not coming down."
